As an author, you are automatically assured of copyright
ownership of anything you write, with the exception of “work-for-hire”
writing and certain other kinds of writing. Copyright protection in the
UK is automatic and there is no registration system - so there are no
forms to fill in and no fees to pay. Copyright law restricts the
reproduction of copyright material, storage in a retrieval system, or
transmission in any form without the prior permission of the copyright
owner. There are certain exceptions to the rights given to the copyright
owner, for example, limited use of works may be possible for research,
private study and teaching in an educational establishment.
Most publishers require you to extend your copyright to
the publisher to prevent unauthorised distribution of the document
without their permission. For this reason, the SRT will not accept previously
published material unless express permission has been obtained from both
the author and the prior publisher.
Declaration
I hereby confirm I am the author and sole
copyright owner of the document as detailed above. I grant the SRT permission to
store and electronically distribute the material through the SRT website
on my behalf. I understand I retain full copyright ownership of my
work.
